Chris Millar looking forward to 2014 Cup Winners' Anniversary Dinner

Cup-winning legend Chris Millar is already looking forward to our Anniversary Dinner.

The former midfielder, a real fans’ favourite, played a starring role to help us defeat Dundee United 2-0 at Celtic Park in the 2014 Scottish Cup final.

Now he has quickly pencilled Saturday, November 30 in the diary for a night of special memories and gleeful reminiscing at Perth Concert Hall.

“It will be a special night,” Chris said. “We were a really tight squad and great pals.

“But as life goes on sometimes you keep in touch fleetingly. It will be great to see everyone again and reminisce about old stories with a bit of banter.”

Chris produced a fantastic performance in the middle of the park on that day in May and admits he continues to think about the joyous scenes on a regular basis.

He smiled: “I can’t believe it’s 10 years. People always say things go by so quickly in football and you need to cherish them.

“There is not a day that goes by where the cup win doesn’t get brought up, get mentioned or ends up popping into your head.

“It was one of the best days of my life. It meant so much to me, to my family, to the club, the fans and the city. It was unbelievable.”

Backed by 15,000 cheering fans, goals from Steven Anderson and Steven MacLean sent the Saints end – and indeed Perth – into unparalleled celebration.

“It is still very vivid and clear in my mind,” Chris continued.

“I remember rooming with Steven MacLean. In the morning, I was getting messages from family and was getting emotional. He was calming me down.

“There was a great atmosphere and buzz when we were arriving at the stadium. Next thing you know you’re in the tunnel.

“It went exactly how we wanted it to go. There were a few scares and wobbly moments, but it went to plan.

“We’d worked on that first goal with Ando’s run round the back post. The place erupted and it was perfect timing. Tommy tried to keep everyone calm and settled at half-time.

“Spoony then went on that mazy run which could’ve been one of the best goals in Scottish Cup history.

“When the ball broke to Macca for the second, I just knew it was a goal. Only one person was going to win the challenge – and it definitely wasn’t going to be the goalkeeper.”

Tickets for the 2014 Cup Winners’ Anniversary Dinner, which will take place on the evening of November 30 at Perth Concert Hall, are now on sale. More information is available HERE.
