Preview: St Johnstone WFC v Queen's Park

St Johnstone Women welcome Queen’s Park to McDiarmid Park on Wednesday evening for a Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 fixture.

Kev Candy’s side were defeated 3-2 by Livingston in their last outing on April 21, with Ellie-May Cowie and Steffi Simson on the scoresheet for the Saints on that occasion.

It will be the first time the team will take to the main pitch at McDiarmid Park and the club is hoping for as big a crowd as possible to take in the match.

ADMISSION INFORMATION

Kick-off at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday will be 7.45pm with turnstiles in the Main Stand opening at 7pm. It will be £5 entry for adults while concessions can enter for just £1. Those attending are reminded it will be CASH ONLY at the turnstiles.

As is the case with all of St Johnstone WFC’s usual home games at the Riverside Stadium, Saints season ticket holders enter for free this Wednesday night.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

Manager Kev Candy said: “It’s really exciting to be playing in the stadium environment. It will be a special night for us and it is also fitting that we will be hosting the league champions.

“We want to provide an entertaining product which brings more people back. If you come up to the stadium on Wednesday, May 1, you should hopefully be well-entertained.

“Irrespective if it is the men, the women, the U18s or some of the younger academy sides, they are all wearing the same colours and are all proud to be representing St Johnstone.”

SAINTS FANS SUPPORTING FOODBANKS

Coupled with the men’s matches, Saints Fans Supporting Foodbanks also now collect items for Perth and Kinross Foodbank at the women’s matches.

They will be in attendance before kick-off on Wednesday night’s game and will be positioned at gates three and four in front of the Main Stand. Collections will begin at 6.15pm and take place through until kick-off.

As well as collecting donations of non-perishable foodstuffs and toiletries for the food bank, cash donations for Saints in the Community will also be taken.
