Reaction: Brodie Dair on U18s win against Ayr

Brodie Dair was delighted with the character displayed throughout the team as our U18s picked up a hard-earned three points against Ayr United.

Dair netted on the stroke of half-time to send us into a 2-1 lead after Ben McCrystal had earlier opened the scoring with a long-range effort.

“It was a tough game and it always is when we play Ayr,” Dair said. “We weren’t at our best but we dug deep and got the three points which was the main thing.

“It was a great strike from Ben to open the scoring but we were winding him up after the game that he’d sliced it. Ben has got quality - and he has shown it again.”

Goalkeeper Kyle Thomson had been called into action after Ayr’s leveller and before Dair managed to then put Saints back ahead.

Dair said: “Kyle has made a couple of unbelievable saves. There was a point where they were putting pressure on us but we were tight defensively and remained together.

“Jackson [Mylchreest] did so well down the right-hand side for my goal and it was a great ball in. I managed to get across the defender and thankfully it went in.”
