Saints Lotto: Jackpot winner shares delight

Two weeks after scooping the Super Saints Weekly Lotto jackpot, winner Billy Innes picked up his cheque for £25,000 today.

Perth-based Billy and wife Denise were enjoying a holiday in Spain when they matched the four numbers, bringing to an end a 10-week run of the maximum jackpot being up for grabs. Denise says the news of the big win almost tempted them to extend their stay in the sun!

She said: “We couldn’t think who was phoning us from Perth while we were away and to discover that it was from the Saints Lotto with the great news that we’d won was a huge surprise and very welcome. We thought about extending our stay over there on the back of the news but decided against it and will perhaps treat ourselves to another break soon.”

Billy won the £25,000 with a permanent line he plays through Bridgeton Stores in Almondbank and he’s delighted that his perseverance has paid off.

He explained: “I’ve played the lotto for a lot of years and to win the jackpot is fantastic. Denise took the call from Saints and I could tell by her face we’d won something but I didn’t know what it was or how much – I thought it was maybe the Premium Bonds! When she told me it was £25,000 on the Saints Lotto I was absolutely delighted.”

Lotto agent Bob Megahy from Bridgeton Stores said: “I’ve known Billy for a lot of years and I’m delighted for him and Denise. I hope they make the most of their windfall.”
