St Johnstone Women return to ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 action this Sunday with a trip to Ayrshire to face Kilmarnock.

Saints, who sit fifth in the standings, head into the fixture on the back of a 3-2 defeat away at Boroughmuir while second-placed Killie are looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss of their own against champions Queen’s Park.

Sunday afternoon’s match will kick-off at 2pm at Rugby Park.

PRE-MATCH QUOTES

ON THE CHALLENGE OF FACING KILMARNOCK

First team coach Nathan White said: “Spirits in the squad are good and we want to finish the season as positively as we can. We have two games left and we know Kilmarnock will be tough.

“They are very well-organised and we know that from previous fixtures. We need to go there and try to dominate the game, but hopefully come out with three points this time.”

ON THE 3-2 DEFEAT AGAINST BOROUGHMUIR

“I thought we played very well against Boroughmuir, dominated the game. It was just unfortunate that we made some silly errors which led to their goals.

“The girls are taking everything on board, we’ve reflected on the performance and will move on to Kilmarnock on Sunday now.

“Boroughmuir games are always tough. Both sides try to cancel out each other all of the time and they have previously been very tight.

“We just need to make sure that we go and win those types of games in the future instead of coming away with zero points.”

ON THE SEASON TO DATE

“The season overall has been mixed. There has been change since January and we managed to get into a bit of form.

“We need to make sure we finish the season positively and then come back for pre-season and look to go again.”

ON PLAYING AT MCDIARMID PARK AGAINST QUEEN’S PARK

“It was a phenomenal experience. The girls enjoyed it and we enjoyed it as a staff. The first 20 minutes, there were maybe a little bit of nerves, but that is natural.

“The crowd kept cheering the players on and we grew into the game. We were unfortunate not to score or come away with any points.”
