POTENTIAL RED STAR FIXTURE REVERSAL FOR SAINTS/ALASHKERT

POTENTIAL RED STAR FIXTURE REVERSAL FOR SAINTS/ALASHKERT

26th July 2016

In the event that Red Star Belgrade (FK Crvena Zvezda) were to make it to the second round of the UEFA Europe League qualifiers, and so did their Serbian neighbours FK Cukaricki, then their fixture with the winner of the St. Johnstone/Alashkert FC tie would be reversed from the previously scheduled home and away legs to ensure Red Star played AWAY in the first leg.

This is to ensure that the two clubs from Belgrade don’t play at home on the same night.

If Red Star Belgrade were to win their first round tie and FK Cukaricki were to lose, then St. Johnstone/Alashkert would play the first game away against the Serbians before the second leg in Scotland/Armenia.

UEFA’s statement in full:

“In case of qualification of FK Crvena Zvezda (SRB) and FK Cukaricki (SRB) to the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round, Match 13 will be reversed and must be played as follows:

Alashkert FC (ARM) or Saint Johnstone (SCO) vs FK Crvena Zvezda (SRB)”
