SAINTS SAY FAREWELL TO STEVE BANKS

26th July 2016

Yesterday’s match at Dens Park marked the end of Steve Banks’s time with Saints with the club’s goalkeeping coach now heading south to take up a similar role with Blackpool FC.

Manager Tommy Wright says of the move: “It’s always been Banksie’s ambition to get back down south and when this opportunity came up we couldn’t stand in his way.

“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever worked alongside and he’s played a significant role in our successes over the past couple of seasons including the Scottish Cup win – one of his few games in the first team was the win over Forfar Athletic in that season's competition. He’s a well-qualified, highly-rated coach and has been invaluable to me.”

The 43 year-old Londoner who played six first team games told the Saints Official Website, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my two years at the club and leave with some of the best memories of my career. I’ve loved playing in Scotland but it’s always been my wish to get back down south eventually and this move gives me that opportunity.”

Tommy Wright has already conducted interviews to find a successor to Steve and an appointment is expected soon.
