'MACCA' DELIGHTED TO GRAB FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

26th July 2016

After Saints picked up their first win of the season at home to Motherwell, with Steven MacLean scoring both for the home side, the striker gave his thoughts on the game.

“It’s great to score the two goals but most important, I think, is the character we showed from again going a goal behind, but it just shows the character in the dressing room and the ability as well.

“From the bad start we had, with passes going astray I thought we dug in and I thought from 25 minutes onward I thought we were outstanding.

“Last season I hadn’t scored in a bit and sometimes it does play on your mind but sometimes it is just a bit of luck, you need to get in those positions to score. Mikey (Michael O’Halloran) does brilliant for my second one and Graham (Cummins) does brilliant for the first one so all the plaudits should go to those two.

“The most important thing is that we got off the mark today, 3 points, and we’ve got the small matter of a game at Parkhead next week”.
