GREG PAGE BELIEVES 'EXCITING' U20s CAN PROGRESS IN YOUTH CUP

26th July 2016

Saints’ Development side face Stranraer tomorrow afternoon in the 3rd round of the SFA 'Little Big Shot' Youth Cup at McDiarmid Park with a 1pm kick off.

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for the U20s side, who currently sit in 2nd place in the SPFL Development League table with 20 points from their opening 9 matches.

Left-back Greg Page, who joined Saints in the summer from Hearts, is excited about the opportunity to play in the Scottish Cup, “Obviously, I’m really looking forward to the game. I think they will be really up for playing at McDiarmid and will try and make it difficult for us, but we have to show we have enough quality to see them off and make it into the next round.

“I feel as though we are a really exciting team with lots of very good players. I think we all want to go in the same direction and have that same mindset to go forward and improve together. But although we are really expansive and exciting going forward, we probably need to tighten up at the back.

“But, personally, I’m really enjoying life at St. Johnstone and have done since I arrived in the summer, they’re a great bunch of boys in the dressing room. I really enjoy the training and I’m really enjoying playing more often in the U20s team recently.”

As part of a school project, Greg Page and his U20s team mate Greg Hurst both visited Our Lady’s Primary School on Friday afternoon, “I thought it was a good experience for us to do something like that and I really enjoyed it. The other players were asking us what it was like when we got back so I think it would be good for them to do a school visit too. I thought it went really well and the kids got something out of it.”

Admission to Sunday’s match is £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and free to Season Ticket Holders.
