'TO BE DREAMING' BY JIM MACKINTOSH

26th July 2016

Saints season-ticket holder, and published poet, Jim Mackintosh has written the following poem ahead of tomorrow's Scottish League Cup semi final with Hibernian:

'To Be Dreaming'

to be dreaming at an age when you should know better like a teenager on a first date surely, one more kiss isn’t too much to hope for; sitting in pyjamas a mug of tea and watching another re-run of 17th May just for old time's sake even the adverts, remembering new grey hairs, and ones on heads younger, never wiser bringing clouds to the party only to leave early, leaving me to remember, what did I wear on the first run of that day in May then writing poetry, unravelling memories to get to details but who would care, more than me if I didn’t wear the same socks wondering the fuss of it if I wore socks at all, in January in Edinburgh, at Tynecastle watching The Saints, so I can dream of sitting in pyjamas a mug of tea watching a new run of a new dream; so surely one more kiss isn’t too much to hope for but I’ll wear the same socks my May Day Cup socks just for old time’s sake just in case the tea goes cold and my dream stands me up
