St. Johnstone’s U20s side were unable to bounce back from Tuesday’s Scottish Youth Cup exit as they were defeated 4-2 by Dunfermline Athletic at Ainslie Park, Edinburgh, on Friday afternoon.

The Pars opened the scoring after 9 minutes through Stuart Morrison before Greg Hurst scored from the penalty spot on 33 minutes to draw Saints level after Euan O’Reilly was felled in the area. However, Dunfermline hit back 3 minutes later through James Thomas to take the ‘home side’ into the break 2-1 up.

The scoreline remained the same until Evan Horne, after an assist from Paul Joseph Crossan, put the Fifers 3-1 up on 79 minutes. Kyle Lander hit back with two minutes remaining to set up a tight finish but Crossan managed to get on the scoresheet himself to seal the win for Dunfermline Athletic.
