St. Johnstone FC are delighted to confirm that long-serving midfielder Chris Millar has this week signed a new one-year contract, which will take him into his tenth season at the club.

'Midgey' made the move to McDiarmid Park from home-town club Greenock Morton in 2008 and made his debut away to Ross County in the Challenge Cup on 26th July that year.

It's safe to say the club has been on an upward trajectory since Millar's arrival, the team won the Division One trophy in his debut season, and in the years that followed the Glasgow-born midfielder has played a key role in Saints' six successive top six finishes in the Scottish Premiership, our four campaigns in Europe and the Scottish Cup win of 2014.

A personal highlight for Chris was season 2014/15 which he ended by taking the majority of the silverware at the club's end of season awards. That was also the campaign which saw him score his last goal for St. Johnstone - an outstanding individual effort to complete a comeback win against Tayside rivals Dundee United at McDiarmid Park.

He recently played his 300th match for St. Johnstone in our 1-0 win over Hearts on Wednesday 5th April. Amongst the club's overall appeareance makers, Millar is tied with team mate Liam Craig in 6th place on 301.

On signing the new deal, which will take him into his testimonial season in Perth, Millar said: "I'm delighted. I wanted to be here next year, there was no doubt in my mind about that. When the gaffer (Tommy Wright) came and spoke to me about it we sorted out the deal and it was done pretty quickly.

"I'm just delighted to get my future sorted out and commit to the club for another year. This will take me into my tenth year playing here, which is something I'm really proud of."
