The club is delighted to announce that 19-year-old midfielder Ali McCann has signed a one-year-contract extension at the club keeping him at McDiarmid Park until May 2020.

The highly-rated youngster has spent the second half of the season on-loan at Ladbrokes League One outfit Stranraer where he helped Stevie Farrell's men escape relegation with two games to spare.

He scored his first senior goal for the Stair Park outfit in a 3-0 victory against Brechin City last month.

Speaking to the club's official website shortly after securing the midfielder's services for next year, the manager said he has faith in Ali's ability to push for a place in the first-team next season.

"I'm really pleased to have Ali signed for next season," Tommy said, "and he's a player I've got a lot of faith in.

"He needed to go out and play and we got him to Stranraer where he's done brilliantly. He helped them stay in League One and he's learned so much from the experience.

"The feedback we've had has been excellent from Stranraer and we've also had him watched regularly too.

"When he comes into training now he looks stronger and more confident and now we want him to push on. He needs to be looking to try and compete with Murray Davidson and Liam Craig for a place in the team and he's a determined lad.

"We believe he has the ability but also the drive to succeed next season and get more regular games in the first-team."
