St. Johnstone fans who have been celebrating the club's 132nd birthday today have even more reason to celebrate with the news that popular defender Brian Easton has signed a new deal at McDiarmid Park until the summer of 2019.

He's the latest player to commit his future to the club following new deals for David Wotherspoon, Richard Foster, Joe Shaughnessy and Steven MacLean in recent weeks.

The former Burnley defender said: "It's good to get it all done. There have been talks for the last month or two and it's great to get signed up because it gives you that security that you'll be part of the club for the next couple of seasons at least. It's a great club to be at and I've enjoyed my time here so much."

Saints manager Tommy Wright is also pleased 'Easty' will remain in Perth for the forseeable future: “I’m delighted that Brian is the latest player to commit himself to an extended stay at the club. He’s been superb for me and for the club over the past few seasons and I know he’s happy here. On top of the other recent contract extension announcements, it’s positive news as we look to the future and the process will continue in the coming weeks.”

Brian Easton will feature in tomorrow's #SaintsDay home match with Kilmarnock. Admission info HERE.
