Hard work continues in Austria

The squad continues to work hard at our Austrian training base and the players have been out on the training pitch both this morning and this afternoon.

“The weather has picked up and we are getting the work in," said Tommy Wright speaking from Austria.

"As is always the case, there are one or two niggles but nothing of concern and on the positive side Brian Easton trained with the rest of the boys yesterday and again this morning so he’s making steady progress."

Reflecting on Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Croatian side NK Osijek, Tommy felt that it was an ideal game at this early stage of the build-up to the new season.

“It went well although nobody likes to lose games. They’re nearly three weeks ahead of us in their preparations as the have a Europa League tie coming up and it showed but there was plenty to please me.

“If we had been at their level of fitness and sharpness then I’m confident that it would have been a different result but it was a thoroughly worthwhile exercise.”

Former Rennes and Lausanne forward, Arthur Njo Lea, got a run-out against NK Osijek after the 22 year old joined up with the squad over in Austria with Wright looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.
