LOAN WATCH | Unbeaten start for McCann

6th March 2019

Wednesday 6 March 2019

Only two of the six Saints players out on-loan featured this weekend with BSC Glasgow and Linfield not in action.

Just Ali McCann (Stranraer) and Steven Anderson (Partick) featured with Kyle McClean (Linfield) and Euan O'Reilly, Cammy Ballantyne and Ben Quigley (BSC) given the weekend off.

Ali McCann (Stranraer)

Although Ali was in the squad the last time Stranraer lost back on 16th February against Dumbarton the young midfielder didn't feature in the 0-3 home defeat.

He's started and played the full 90 minutes of every game since and Ali has helped the Stair Park outfit go on a three match unbeaten run.

Following the 2-1 victory against Brechin and 1-1 draw with Stenhousemuir, Stranraer earned a good point against promotion contenders Raith Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Stranraer had been 2-0 up at half-time but Raith mounted a second half comeback to share the spoils. Next up for Ali and Stranraer is a trip to East Fife.

Steven Anderson (Partick Thistle)

Ando will always be remembered for his heroic opening goal in the Scottish Cup Final victory over Dundee United in May 2014 but this time he was lining up for a different club in the competition.

The experienced defender was tryin to help Championship outfit Partick Thistle progress against well-fancied Hearts at Firhill on Monday night live on BBC Scotland.

And he played his part in a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Hearts which sets up a replay on Tuesday at Tynecastle.

Next up for Ando and Partick though is Dundee United on Saturday - the side he scored against for Saints in that historic 2-0 Scottish Cup Final victory in 2014.

McCLean (Linfield), O'Reilly, Ballantyne, Quigley (BSC Glasgow)

Kyle McClean will be back in action for table-topping Linfield on Friday night against Glenavon, while Euan O'Reilly, Cammy Ballantyne and Ben Quigley will hope to feature for BSC Glasgow in their Lowland League clash with Vale of Leithen.
