Match preview: Killie v Saints

Friday 4th August

Saints kick off the new Scottish Premiership season with a trip to East Ayrshire to face Lee McCulloch's Kilmarnock.

Tommy Wright will be pleased with side's end to pre season as last Saturday's 2-0 win at East Fife followed back to back wins over Sunderland, Rangers and Hartlepool United.

Michael O'Halloran, who re-joined the club on loan from Rangers last weekend, will be hoping to make his second competitive debut for Saints at Rugby Park.

The club were also boosted this week with the news that striker Chris Kane has signed a new two year contract extension with the club, and the 22 year old is excited ahead of tomorrow's big kick off.

He said: “This pre-season I feel I’ve done well. I’m feeling fit and strong so hopefully I can get a run of games at the start of the campaign, score a few goals and cement a place in the team."

Tommy Wright has a full squad to choose from and the Northern Irishman believes getting points on the board early in the campaign is crucial: “All the work is done. Now we are ready to get going. The test is always that first league game and there is a real sense of anticipation.

“Every manager wants to get that first win and we always aim to get 10 points on the board as quickly as possible and take it from there."

Cash turnstiles will be in operation, with Saints fans accomodated in the Chadwick Stand:
