Match preview: Saints vs Inverness CT

2nd December 2016

Friday 2 December 2016

St Johnstone face Inverness tomorrow at McDiarmid Park looking to make amends for the recent 4-2 defeat at home to Ross County and to cement their place in the top six. Saints' last victory came in late October against Dundee and are now without a win in four matches. The Perth outfit currently sit 5 points ahead of Inverness with a game in hand and will be eager to extend that gap tomorrow afternoon. Keith Watson played for the development squad in midweek but is unlikely to feature while Chris Millar is also expected to miss out.

The reverse fixture saw Inverness come out on top with a 2-1 victory, Josh Meekings scoring an injury time winner for the Highlanders. Inverness, however, will be desperate for a result, having only won one of their previous eight games. A victory for the visitors would see them sit just two points behind St Johnstone.

Tommy Wright spoke midweek about the tie, highlighting the need for Saints to improve their home form: "We know that we need to be better at home and improve our results. We need to stop giving away cheap goals and go back to basics. If we give ourselves a better platform and cut out individual errors we'll pick up more points."

He added: "We know this won't be an easy game, but we are confident we can get the result."

There will be a minute's silence immediately before kick off tomorrow to remember the victims of the tragic air disaster involving South American side Chapecoense.
