Monday 5th March
After last week’s SPFL Development League game against Dundee United was postponed because of the wintry weather, Saints U20s returned to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to take on Ross County. Please note that the venue for this fixture has changed and it will now take place at the Global Energy Stadium instead of the Highland Football Academy. Kick off is 2pm and it is free entry via the West Stand concourse.
The teams have already met this season back in October when Ross County won 3-2 at McDiarmid Park. Blair Alston had given Saints the lead on 3 minutes as a clearance by County defender Kyle Johnson cannoned off the Saints midfielder before landing in the net. However, Saints were not ahead for long as Ryan Dow had the visitors level on 9 minutes and then scored a second 10 minutes later as he won the ball from Jack Wilson before firing a strike past Ben Mackenzie. The Staggies then got a third on the half hour mark as Kyle Johnson converted a Russell Dingwall cross from close range. It was a much improved second half performance from Saints and they pulled a goal back on 77 minutes as Kyle Johnson turned a Euan O’Reilly cross into his own net.
Saints go into tomorrow’s match in tenth place in the SPFL Development League with 16 points whilst Ross County are in eighth place with 24 points.
