Saints look to bounce back

Saints play host to Hamilton on this weekend's Premiership card as they look to recover from last Saturday's derby defeat away at Dundee.

Tommy Wright saw his team's unbeaten start to the league season come to an end at Dens Park last time out and will be keen for his players to get back to winning ways. Saints currently sit fourth in the standings - only behind Rangers on goal difference.

Wright's assistant manager, Callum Davidson, has been anxious to emphasise how one defeat doesn't tarnish Saints' strong start to the campaign:

"It has been a good start to the season. Losing to your local rivals isn’t great and the manner in which it happened makes it tougher to take.

“But we’d have taken this start to the season. Now we have to kick on again and get more points on the board to put pressure on teams behind us."

The visitors, Hamilton, lay 8th in the league after two successive home defeats at the hands of Celtic and Hearts respectively. Similar to his opposite number Accies boss Martin Canning will no doubt stress the importance of picking up much needed points.

When the two teams last met in April, Accies secured a vital 1-0 victory in their bid to avoid relegation. January was the last time the pair crossed paths in Perth - Saints running out comfortable 3-0 winners on that occasion.

Michael O'Halloran and Denny Johnstone should be passed fit for the game after picking up respective ankle and hip injuries against Dundee. Murray Davidson should also be available following illness. Blair Alston, however, is likely to remain sidelined.
