Saints under 20s defeated Motherwell 1-0 in Kelty this afternoon.
After a goalless first half in which the visitors dominated Saints came out the traps at the start of the second half as they took the game to Stephen Craigan’s side. Saints took the lead on 53 minutes as a well worked move down the left saw John Robertson cut the ball back across goal which found Jamie Mackenzie at the back post who slotted the ball into the net from close range.
Motherwell tried to get back into the match and they had a claim for a penalty on 70 minutes when substitute James Scott was brought down in the box by Keith Watson but the referee waved play on.
The visitors continued to try and find a way back into the game however, the young Saints defended well to see the game out and secure the three points.
