Friday 21st July
St. Johnstone fans dreamed of “a team of Dave Mackays.”
That’s how highly valued their 2014 Scottish Cup winning captain was during eight years and nearly 300 games with the club, before being forced to hang up the boots last year on medical advice.
Now, as part of Cuptie’s Testimonial year, supporters have a chance to pay tribute to the popular defender and acknowledge his service to Saints at a dinner arranged for the Dewars Centre, Glover Street, on Saturday, September 2.
Testimonial committee chairman Scott Findlay said: “Top speakers George McNeill and John O’Neill have been secured to provide the after-dinner entertainment on what promises to be an emotional but memorable night for Cuptie and fans who will never forget his role in bringing the Scottish Cup to Perth for the first time in St Johnstone history.”
To make sure of your place at an event paying tribute to a fantastic club servant you can secure tickets, priced £50 per head – with bookings also being taken for tables of 10 – by contacting committee members or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with numbers and contact details. The event is restricted to over 18s.
