Tommy looks ahead to St. Mirren clash

Saints welcome St. Mirren to McDiarmid Park this weekend and manager Tommy Wright is looking for his side to build on last Saturday's 1-0 victory over Motherwell.

The win at Fir Park put Saints on 11 points while tomorrow's visitors have managed just one win so far this season, lying second bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership table on 4 points.

Looking ahead to the match, the manager says that his players will not show any signs of complacency when they come up against Oran Kearney's St. Mirren side tomorrow.

"I think to expect to win any match is disrespectful to the opposition," Tommy said.

"We never get too far ahead of ourselves and I think that's why we've been successful over the years. We always take it one game at a time and tomorrow will be no different.

"What I will say is there is a real belief in our squad that if we play to the best of our ability then we can be a match for anyone.

"However we know we have to earn every win and we'll be going out on Saturday against St. Mirren with the intention of being on the front foot and carrying the energy we showed against Motherwell into the match."

St. Mirren haven't won since the opening game of the season when they defeated Dundee 2-1 but the manager knows that Oran Kearney's men still pose a threat.

"We've had them watched and we've done our own video analysis of them," he said.

"We know it'll be a tough game but I think if we can get the first goal it makes a big difference especially with St. Mirren being on the run that that they are."

Danny Swanson remains suspended for the match and Tommy also has some injury concerns ahead of the weekend.

"Blair Alston is out with a thigh injury and Steven Anderson remains sidelined with his knee," the manager said.

"We're waiting to see how David McMillan gets on today and if he makes it through training then he'll be in the squad but we'll just have to wait and see.

"Brian Easton is now back doing his rehab after taking a wee out following his injections. Hopefully that means he'll be training pain free and we can progress with getting him back available."

Tomorrow's match is a 3PM kick-off and the referee is Andrew Dallas.
