VACANCY: Accounts Assistant

St. Johnstone Football Club is looking for a forward thinking accounts assistant to join our finance department on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will form a key part of the finance department and will have a varied role. The individual will demonstrate great attention to detail, be able to work well as part of a small team, and be able to demonstrate previous experience of working within an accounts department.

This role will suit an individual with strong IT knowledge and the ability to learn new systems with confidence. The salary for this role is competitive.


Day-to-day duties

  • Cash handling
  • Sales ledger processing & credit control
  • Purchase ledger processing
  • Monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Purchase ledger payment runs
  • Daily posting and allocation of bank transactions & bank reconciliations
  • Payroll processing on an ad hoc basis
  • Handling queries from customers & suppliers
  • Other duties as per the needs of the business

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience of working in an accounts role
  • Great communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Polite telephone manner
  • A proactive and process-driven approach
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to organise your workload and work to deadlines

A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel, and QuickBooks Online would be preferred, but training can be provided.
