PARKIN OF THE WAYS FOR SAINTS AND SAM Saints have parted company with striker Sam Parkin by mutual consent.

The 30 year old striker’s time with the club has been marred by a stress fracture of the ankle last February which ended his season. After a lengthy recuperation, Sam finally made an appearance in the first team when he came off the bench in the 3-0 defeat from Motherwell on 10th December 2011 but after discussion with Manager Steve Lomas he has agreed that it would be best to look elsewhere to continue his career – something he is in a position to do as he is now fully fit.

Sam says of the decision: “I’m disappointed it has not worked out but the injury was a devastating blow. The club was good and gave me time to recover and I’m fit now but I need regular games and the manager has been honest with me and said that he can’t promise that. But I knew any new manager would have his own thoughts and ideas on the team and I leave with no animosity and having met a great bunch of guys who I wish every success to in the remainder of the season.”

The former Swindon Town, Ipswich Town and Luton Town player was released by Walsall in May 2010 and joined the Saints squad for part of their Warwick training camp ahead of the 2009/2010 campaign and an already-keen Derek McInnes saw plenty to convince him that he could play a significant role for the team and he was duly snapped up on a two year contract.
