Joe Shaughnessy

Club captain Joe Shaughnessy joined Saints in the summer of 2015 from Aberdeen after he agreed a pre-contract in to join the club on a two-year deal.

Joe joined The Dons in June 2009 - previously having played for Irish club Salthill Devon as a youngster - and he made his debut in a 3-1 win at Hibs in May 2011.

He enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Forfar Athletic during the 2011/12 season and scored three goals. He started the 2013/14 season playing at right-back position and scored his first goal of the season in a Scottish League Cup win over Falkirk. In his final season with Aberdeen, Joe struggled to make an impact on the first-team and joined Championship side Falkirk on a short-term loan before returning to see out his contract at Pittodrie.

Joe made his St. Johnstone debut in our Europa League Qualifier in Armenia against Alashkert. In his first season with the club, Joe made a big impact which saw him pick up several player of the year awards at the end of the campaign.

He continued his good form during the 2016/17 season and was the only player to feature in every game of that campaign. In February 2017, Joe put pen to paper on a two-year extension at McDiarmid Park to the summer of 2019. He was made club captain by manager Tommy Wright in October 2017.

Joe's home jersey is kindly sponsored by Martell Consultancy (Donald & Alan Martin), and his away jersey is kindly sponsored by Raymond Ellis.

Player Sponsorship is £315 (Inc. VAT) for the season - contact the club on 01738 455000 for more information.
