Steven MacLean

After being released by Yeovil Town Steven signed for Saints on 1st September 2012 in a deal which initially took him through to January 2013 but was then extended to May 2014.

Steven started out as a youth with Rangers but after he failed to make a significant impression on the first team, only making a few appearances, he moved to Scunthorpe United on loan during the 2003/2004 season and was then sold to Sheffield Wednesday for £125,000 in July 2004. After leaving Wednesday in 2007 Steven went on to feature for a variety of clubs including Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle and while with Argyle had loan spells with Aberdeen and Oxford United.

Steven made a good start to his Saints career, scoring a double in a League Cup game against Queen's Park and then netting the third goal in the 3-1 win over Dundee at Dens Park at the end of September but a dislocated elbow suffered later in that game kept him on the side-lines for a few weeks although the absence wasn't as long as was initially feared.

Steven scored the second goal for the history making Saints team that defeated Dundee United 2 - 0 in the Scottish Cup Final played at Celtic Park on 17th May 2014.

In February 2017 the influential striker signed a contract extension with the club of one year, taking him to May 2018.
