Toby Steward again highlighted that concentration was key when reacting to our 1-0 win against Airdrieonians on Friday night.
The goalkeeper on loan from Portsmouth made a couple of impressive second half stops to keep the hosts out – especially when denying Mochrie with a 76th minute close-range save.
After the win, Toby, who was named player of the match, said: “It was a huge three points. We had some new boys in there, and I thought they did really well too.
“We had good spells in the game, but also times when we had to suffer. We did that part of the game well and defended as a unit.
“Every team is a danger and every team has good players. We always know that, as a unit, we need to be solid to win games.
“We often keep the ball for long periods of time, but I always need to remain concentrated and make my impact when called upon.”
Ruari Paton was the match-winner with a neat early finish on debut.
Toby added: “Ruari is a great character. I think he has known Hammer (Jamie Gullan) from before and they have a good connection.
“The through ball seemed like second nature and it was a great goal.”
Toby continued: “We’re better when we’re playing games and now we have a few in quick succession. Our concentration moves to Ayr United – and we’re looking forward to it.”
