Summer signing Jack Baird admits he is loving the early stages of his St Johnstone career as pre-season work continues for the squad.

The central defender has been putting in the hard graft with his new team-mates through at Stirling University this week.

Jack said: “It’s been really good, I’ve enjoyed it and it has been nice to meet all the boys.

“I’ve not had to settle into a new dressing room too many times in my career, but I already knew a couple of the boys so that does make things a little easier.

“There has been a lot of hard graft and some work with the ball too this week. I’ve really enjoyed my start to life at St Johnstone.

“Everyone is probably feeling it in their legs a little bit but it is a necessity at this stage. Once pre-season is out of the road, you feel better for all the work you’ve put in.”

The squad is preparing for upcoming pre-season friendlies and the start of the Premier Sports Cup.

Jack added: “We have a lot of games coming up with both friendlies and the Premier Sports Cup but I’m looking forward to getting stuck in. It’s been about eight weeks since my last game so I’m missing it.”
