We are delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Adam Forrester from Heart of Midlothian.

The 20-year-old joins Saints on a season-long loan deal from Tynecastle.

Adam, a promising young full-back, has progressed through the youth ranks at Hearts and has been a standout performer at development level before breaking through into the first-team. He now makes the move to Perth to gain more valuable experience.

After signing the loan agreement, Adam said: “It has moved quite quicky in the past 24 hours and I’m happy to be here. The club has a lot of ambition and I’m delighted to be part of it.

“I know quite a few of the boys already. I played with Makenzie Kirk for a year or two with the B team at Hearts and I got to know Jason Holt recently.

“The League Cup went well for the club and it was a very positive result against Partick Thistle in the first game of the season.

“I actually watched the highlights of that match and there were plenty of chances created. Hopefully I can add to that now.”

Adam, who played against us last season, added: “I remember coming to McDiarmid Park and it was always a tough place to come.

“I’ll always give 100 per cent, I’ll always give my best. I pride myself on defending well but I’ll be looking to get forward and contribute at that end of the pitch too.”

This loan move forms part of a wider Scottish FA cooperation agreement with Hearts, aimed at providing high-potential players with competitive opportunities to accelerate their development.

The new Scottish FA initiative allows players who are eligible for the Scotland National Team and who are between the ages of 16-21, to move between their parent club and cooperation club, in an attempt to increase playing time.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Derek McInnes and everyone at Heart of Midlothian for their cooperation in this agreement.
