Jamie Gullan has made an immediate impact at McDiarmid Park, scoring five goals and providing three assists in the opening weeks of the season.
The former Hibernian, Dundalk and Raith Rovers forward was one of Simo Valakari’s first signings this summer, and he has quickly settled into life in Perth.
Despite his notable numbers, Jamie (26) is determined not to stop there.
“We can have no complaints at all about our start to the season. We have done very well,” he explained.
“Saturday against Motherwell goes down as a defeat, but we can take so many positives from the game. We went away gutted, but we aren’t too disheartened and we won’t let it impact us.
“We have created a winning mentality, and we are now looking to go on another run. There is a great buzz after our games and the gaffer is huge on that atmosphere. You need to enjoy the highs when they come.
“We enjoy the wins when they come, but then we are straight back in and focused on getting that feeling again the following week.
“All the boys are buying into what the gaffer is trying to achieve and we are getting our rewards for that.”
Goals and assists have always been a feature of Jamie’s game, most of them coming during his time at Stark’s Park – where he scored 28 goals and registered 15 assists.
On his own personal form, he continued: “I am absolutely loving life at St Johnstone. It has been a really good start for me personally, as well as for the team.
“I am hoping to use this start as a platform to go on and get even more this season. I am not going to be happy if I end the season with what I have currently. I just want to help the team as much as I can with as many goals and assists as possible.
“I come in every day with a smile on my face. I think that is when you perform at your best.
“I am enjoying the role I am playing in the team, I have of course enjoyed the positive results and I have enjoyed meeting the fans.
“It has been a great start to life here and hopefully that can continue on.”
Looking ahead to Arbroath this weekend, Jamie added: “Arbroath are always a tough team to come up against. I have played against them plenty of times during their spell in the Championship.
“It is always competitive. I am probably more used to a Dick Campbell Arbroath than what they are now, but we know it will always be a tough game.
“They are going to come here and set up to try and win. It is the Championship – anyone can beat anyone.
“We need to be right up for it and create as many chances as possible.”
