Jonathan Svedberg provided his reaction following our convincing victory against Morton in the William Hill Championship.

The Swedish midfielder was back in from the start as the Saints raced into four-goal first half lead at Cappielow.

Jonathan said: “I’m very happy with the win. I’m very proud of the team to bounce back from our loss last week.

“We scored a lot of great goals and did the basics very well. You start with the defence and, if that is good, the attack is going to get better.

“We were good in the last third and now have more confidence. Let’s start building on this again.”

Jonathan, on returning to the starting line-up, added: “It is difficult when you don’t play but you try to stay fit and work hard on the training ground.

“You are a footballer and you want to play games all of the time. But you just need to keep pushing yourself. When you get the chance, you need to take it. I feel I did that – the whole team did.”

Jonathan thanked the vocal Saints support – and was heading home to spend time with his dad who has flown over to visit him.

He said: “I’m going to enjoy some time with my dad on my day off. He didn’t dare to drive on the other side of the road to get to the game!

“We had a lot of people supporting us and that means a lot to the team. We gave them something back with the win. Of course, I’m very happy about that.”
