Our U19s got back to winning ways last night when we defeated Partick Thistle in the Club Academy Scotland Performance/Advanced Youth league at the McDiarmid Park astro.
A single goal from the penalty spot by striker Murray Binnie on 17 minutes was enough to secure the three points for the young Saints.
Speaking after the game, captain Arran Brookfield said: “It was a good win for us. The boys showed great character to get the three points.
“We went 1-0 up early on in the game and we managed to hold out for the rest of the 90 minutes. It felt like a massive one for us.
“The whole team played really well. All the boys gave 100 per cent and we were determined to get a result.
“We came into the game after our match against Montrose and we played well, but we didn’t get the result. We just had a missing piece in that game but we produced against Partick.”
Looking ahead, Arran added: “It is important that we now take this result forward and go on a positive run of form. We are always looking to improve.
“There are plenty elements of our game that we can improve on. We will work hard on the training pitch.
“Queen’s Park are up next. They are a really good team and are obviously sitting top of the league. We just need to concentrate on our game.”
