Derek McInnes reflects on last night's game

Derek McInnes this morning expressed disappointment that his side had gone out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup at Livingston last night but drew some satisfaction from the performance of his team.

“I thought there was a better shape and a better organisation to the team last night but more importantly I thought there was a different attitude” he said.

“It was the sort of response I was looking for after the previous two games and showed that we have players who can dig in when things are not going so well – I think some people doubted that we did.”

“The goals we lost were disappointing – another set piece play and then a mistake but I can accept honest mistakes no problem although we have to work hard to cut them out as there are simply too many of them at the moment. Hard work is the key and the harder we work the better it will be and we might even get some luck!”

The manager felt that Nick McKoy and Alan Morgan made valuable contributions on their full debuts and was pleased to see Liam Craig and Andy Jackson looking more like themselves.

“Alan will settle us down at that left back role” said Derek. “He is a good size and has pace and the bit of quality we need.”
