CLASH OF THE FORM TEAMS

26th July 2016

Two sides with unbeaten runs face up in Fife

Saints make the short trip to Dunfermline tomorrow for a meeting of two teams who have emerged from early season indifferent form to show their metal as genuine title contenders.

Dunfermline Athletic didn’t play last weekend due to the postponement of their game against Airdrie United but prior to that they were unbeaten in six games and they will be looking to make home advantage count against Saints – boasting a similar run of games without loss.

The Pars will go into the game in the knowledge that they inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Saints at McDiarmid Park in August but Derek McInnes and his side have put those early season blues firmly behind them and will be looking forward to the opportunity to achieve a similar away win.

A bumper crowd at East End Park looks to be on the cards with Saints fans arranging a Blue and White Away Day and the Pars fans being rallied by their Chairman to turn out in bigger numbers to create a great atmosphere.

Saints have one injury concern – central defender Kevin Rutkiewicz has picked up a knock and is in the doubtful category and Steven Anderson is added to the squad. Kevin James and Jody Morris will also come into contention despite a lack of match practice.

Tomorrow will be Lee Robinson’s final game as goalkeeping cover before returning to Rangers and with Euan McLean’s finger injury looking like taking a further month to heal, Derek McInnes is actively pursuing further cover.
