EARLY GOAL BRINGS FIRST WIN FOR RESERVES
26th July 2016
An early goal from Andy Jackson has given Saints their first win of the Reserve League Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Dunfermline at McDiarmid Park this afternoon.
Last season’s top scorer netted after only eight minutes when he back heeled the ball into the net after a Gavin Swankie corner kick had fallen to him two yards from goal.
Pars keeper Callum Reidford then denied Peter Macdonald and Gavin Swankie before half-time but injured himself making the first of those saves and didn’t reappear for the second half.
Despite the presence of an outfield player in the visitor’s goal, Saints couldn’t find a way through in the second half although Kevin Moon twice struck the woodwork.
This was Saints first win after a run of four successive reserve defeats.
