HOMECOMING SCOTTISH CUP 5th ROUND DRAW

HOMECOMING SCOTTISH CUP 5th ROUND DRAW

26th July 2016

Tuesday winners will be away from home

Saints are on the road in the Homecoming Scottish Cup – if they can overcome the hurdle of Rangers on Tuesday night.

The draw for the 5th round of the competition was made after today’s Edinburgh derby and has paired the winners of the televised McDiarmid Park tie with either Forres Mechanics or Forfar Athletic. The 4th round tie between the Highland League side and the Third Division club was postponed yesterday and also takes place on Tuesday night.

The 5th round match is scheduled for Saturday 7th February and will take place at either Mosset Park in Forres or Station Park in Forfar depending on the outcome of the 4th round game.

The full 5th round draw reads:

Forfar Athletic or Forres Mechanics v St Johnstone or Rangers Airdrie Utd v Dunfermline Hearts v Falkirk Inverurie Locos or Motherwell v Brechin or St Mirren Aberdeen v East Fife Celtic v Peterhead or Queen's Park Hamilton Accies v E Stirlingshire or Dundee Utd Inverness CT v Ayr Utd or Kilmarnock

Meanwhile, Hearts’ victory over Hibernian at Easter Road may open up the possibility of loan defender Paul Hanlon being allowed to play against Rangers. Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen was unwilling to let the player, who made his Saints debut against Clyde on 27th December, be cup-tied but with his side now out of the competition Saints boss Derek McInnes will now seek to have him available against the Ibrox club.
