Derek McInnes talks about Jody's decision to stay with Saints

Manager Derek McInnes has spoken of his delight at securing Jody Morris on a two year deal.

Speaking exclusively to the Saints Official Website from his family holiday in Florida, Derek said, “I’m delighted this has been sorted out. I was always hopeful that Jody would enjoy his football at Saints but if I’m honest I thought it was unlikely that I would get to keep him beyond the end of last season.

“However, I think he has been impressed with the set up here and he has certainly had a big influence on the lads at the club. Make no mistake, Jody is not playing at this. He is bringing his wife and two kids up to Scotland to live and taking his eldest daughter out of her current school down south to come to Saints.”

Derek is convinced that Jody can have a major impact on the club both on and off the field of play.

He continued, “His attitude is second to none and he has influence and respect amongst his colleagues. He has worked with some great professionals himself over the years and he will be an asset to me in sending the right messages to the younger players at the club. However, his influence on the field of play is the key to what he can bring to St Johnstone Football Club. I think we saw that from the very first moments of his Saints career when he made his debut as a substitute at Dens Park and was immediately barking instructions to his team mates. We already have a few leaders at the club and Jody is a very welcome addition to that.”
