Derek McInnes warns his players

Following last weekend’s turn of events at East End Park and Firhill, Saints now have the task of trying to ensure that the seven point advantage at the top of the league is made to count and that there are no last-gasp slip-ups which would prevent league title celebrations at the end of the campaign.

As you would expect, manager Derek McInnes is approaching Sunday’s live television match the same as every other game this season and has warned his players of the dangers of not finishing the job.

“We still require a couple of wins” says Derek “and I am looking to make the game against Queen of the South the first of them. These are tough games coming up – look at what Queens did last weekend at Firhill. You then have games against Dundee and Morton, both tough, tough opponents. So there is a lot of football to be played and it is very important that the players and fans approach these games in the proper manner. If things turned against us at the weekend we could only be four points clear with nine to play for so nobody is taking anything here for granted – we have to go and get the wins which will give us the right to celebrate.”

On the personnel front, Kevin Moon may be fit after missing last week’s game in Fife and there is an outside chance of substitute involvement for Peter MacDonald or Jody Morris. Graham Gartland looks set to continue in defence for the injured Stuart McCaffrey.

The game on Sunday has a 3.15pm kick off and is being broadcast on BBC Alba – Sky Channel 168 or Freesat channel 110

At half-time during Sunday’s game, Saints fans will get to acknowledge some former Perth heroes. As part of the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations, Willie Coburn, Jim Donaldson, John Brogan, Willie Brown and Roddy Grant will be introduced to supporters.
