Adama Sidibeh was delighted to play a key role as we picked up three points to kick-off our Premier Sports Cup campaign on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints had to fight back from a goal down in the first half against East Kilbride after John Robertson had curled a brilliant free-kick beyond Toby Steward.
Jamie Gullan pulled us level after the break with a wonderful free-kick of his own before Sidibeh kept his cool to put us in front on the hour mark.
Makenzie Kirk wrapped up a 3-1 win as the game reached its latter stages.
Sidibeh said: “It was a very important game for us. The first half we didn’t play how we expected but the second half was much better – and you could see that.
“It was a great goal from Jamie and that gave us confidence. After that goal, we kept trying and trying to get another.
“You could see I was very hungry to score a goal. When I scored, it was a great feeling for me. It gives me more confidence and I was very happy.
“I kept going and never gave up. I know that chances will come. Today I managed to get the goal to help the team and that is what is most important. When you get a win, it gives the group more confidence and more energy.”
Touching on the hot conditions, Sidibeh added: “To be honest, I think this was the warmest day I have experienced in Scotland! It was roasting. But getting the win is a happy moment for the team.”
