He is always happy to put in the hard yards.

And Adama Sidibeh is determined to continue to develop every aspect of his game for the benefit of the team.

Supporters – and indeed opposition – are no strangers to his lightning pace and power. But Adama knows the importance of constantly working to better himself.

He said: “As a striker, you always want to score goals. If you don’t score, maybe there are some noises.

“But I know it is always about helping the team. And when I do help the team, I am really happy and delighted. I am a team player and that is really important.

“I never give up. After training I like to do extra to get even fitter. It is sometimes not easy to run powerfully for the full 90 minutes, but I want to get to every single ball to help my team.

“I feel it helps me doing some extra work – and I actually like doing it. On days off, I like to do some running.

“Even when I was young I enjoyed it. Everyone would tell me that I could be a runner. But I always wanted to be a footballer.

“When I first arrived at Saints, maybe my first touch was not that great. Now I feel it is getting better with every game.

“I have been working on my first touch. If your first touch is good, it helps a lot for the rest of your game. I feel I have made improvements with that.”

Adama’s attributes were on display as he picked up the player of the match award following our 4-2 comeback win against Ayr United. He was then on the scoresheet on Saturday in our 5-0 victory against Morton.

Adama continued: “It is a long season. Sometimes the results might not go your way, but we know that the Championship is not an easy league. You can see that it is tough.

“We are happy with where we are right now. We take it game by game. Every game will be difficult and, when you are at the top, everyone will be ready to fight against you.”

Adama is sponsored by Slix Barbers and Scott Merson Roofing.
