Uche Ikpeazu was back in Africa Cup of Nations action on Tuesday when Uganda faced Nigeria in their final group stage match.

It was another milestone moment for the striker, who was handed his first start at the competition. He played 85 minutes at the Complexe Sportif de Fes in Morocco.

Uganda battled hard but were ultimately defeated 3-1 by the group winners – a result which brought their TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2025 journey to an end.

Uche, the first St Johnstone player to represent his country at AFCON, had come off the bench in Uganda’s previous group stage encounter against Tanzania.

And he made an instant impact by stooping low to plant an impressive header into the back of the net to earn The Cranes a point in a 1-1 draw.

Earlier in the tournament, Uganda had opened up with a 3-1 defeat against Tunisia.
