Young defender Arran Brookfield has joined Lowland League side Civil Service Strollers on loan until the end of the season.
Brookfield, captain of our U19s, made his debut on Saturday in a 2-0 win against Albion Rovers.
He is looking forward to developing further over the coming weeks and months.
Brookfield said: “It will get me important minutes in men’s football. That is the next step for me and getting used to the physicality, which I will look to add to my game. It gets me away from playing against guys the same age as me and it will be good experience.
“You want to play as many games as possible. Being able to still play with the U19s and help them out, alongside Civil Service Strollers on a Saturday, is positive for me.”
On the weekend victory, he added: “It was a good win. Albion Rovers are a decent, strong side. It was a physical game but we managed to take the lead in the first half and then put away a penalty to make it 2-0. After that, it was pretty comfortable.”
Brookfield was included in the first team’s matchday squad on numerous occasions last season.
He said: “I’ve learnt a lot from being around the first team. Even being involved in matchday squads, that experience was a big confidence boost. Now it’s all about belief and working hard for more opportunities.”
