Bucket collections will be taking place for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) around McDiarmid Park before Saturday’s game against Dundee United.
The terrific volunteers at Saints Fans Supporting Foodbanks are holding the special collection to support midfielder Sam Stanton and his family’s ongoing fundraising efforts.
His daughter, Nina, was born with congenital heart disease (CHD). She was soon diagnosed with a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) – a hole between the lower chambers of the heart that causes oxygen‑rich blood to flow backwards, forcing the heart and lungs to work harder.
As well as a collection last season, the club also held a silent auction for unique red jerseys worn in a Scottish Championship win against Morton. Half of the profits raised through that auction went to the British Heart Foundation.
We’re happy to be supporting this latest collection on Saturday and hope fans of both clubs can dig deep for a good cause.
Sam said: “The club and the community around it have been great with all of this and hopefully we can raise some more on Saturday.
“It was a scary time when Nina was born, but the club was great with us and gave me the time I needed. We’re grateful to everyone who has helped to arrange the collections. It has been really positive.”
There will be volunteers with cash buckets in front of every stand on Saturday.
