We were back on the road this week in our ongoing mission to inspire the next generation of St Johnstone Football Club fans!

Two local schools were treated to a special visit on Thursday where, firstly, head coach Simo Valakari, vice-captain Morgan Boyes and forward Jamie Gullan met with pupils from Luncarty Primary School.

Excited pupils chanted Simo’s name as he walked through the entrance gate before Morgan and Jamie had a kickabout with them in the school playground.

After working up a sweat, it was inside for an insightful question and answer session with the whole school. Simo, Morgan and Jamie tackled a range of fantastic questions – from game-specific insights to important topics such as nutrition, wellbeing and living a healthy lifestyle.

Later in the afternoon, Simo was joined by vice-captain Sven Sprangler and midfielder Jonathan Svedberg for our second school visit of the day.

A packed-out assembly room at Oakbank Primary School cheered the arrival of Simo, Sven and Jonathan before pupils from all classrooms had their questions answered.

Again, the questions were fantastic and touched on a wide range of topics – and even led to Sven scoring a free-kick into Simo in front of the large projector screen!

Before leaving, Simo had the whole room chanting ‘COME ON YOU SAINTS’ and then emphasised how excited he was to see everyone this coming Saturday at our match against Airdrieonians at McDiarmid Park.

Both Oakbank and Luncarty have had access to secure complementary tickets to attend the game in the Ormond stand.

We thank both schools for having us and the warm welcome. Community visits like this are a key part of the club’s commitment to inspiring the next generation across Perth and Kinross.
