Captain Jason Holt joined Saints TV to provide his reaction following our 1-0 win against Ross County at McDiarmid Park on Saturday afternoon.
Reece McAlear’s crisp first-half strike was enough to add another three points to our William Hill Championship total.
Holt said: “It was a massive three points and we’re delighted with it. I felt we were in control the full game, especially in the first half. We never quite got into our rhythm second half, but we defended ever so well and limited them to virtually no chances.
“We had a couple more chances that we could have capitalised on and you are always conscious of getting the second goal to kill things off. We couldn’t’ quite get it, but I thought how we saw the game out was different class.”
On midfield partner McAlear netting his third goal in three games, Holt added: “He has come up with some really big goals for us in the last three games and is getting the recognition he deserves at the moment.
“Ever since he came to the club, you could see he has great technique and can hit a really good ball. He’s getting into positions where he can let fly from the edge of the box.
“We’ve formed a good partnership. We seem to bounce off each other really well. Whoever plays alongside us has been great too.”
Attention turns to Friday’s night’s trip to Glasgow to face Partick Thistle.
Holt said: “They are all big games, especially at this stage of the season. They have been very competitive games against Partick. Tough, difficult games. We expect the same this time.
“We’ll recover and have full focus on Friday night.”
