The emotion was clear to see on the face of Jason Holt when he joined Saints TV in the immediate aftermath of our Scottish Championship victory on Tuesday.
A top professional on and off the park, the release of energy at full-time was a special moment for our skipper.
Jason said: “Honestly, it is difficult to put into words. There has been so much hard work until this point. It has been building, building, trying to get over the line.
“We’ve kept pushing. The relief when that second goal went in was outstanding.
“We all remember the night at Tynecastle when we got relegated. Last year were some of the toughest times of my career. Really difficult.
“It was a big turnaround and I was given the honour of leading the lads. That was a privilege for me. It has been an absolute pleasure.”
Jason continued: “You could see the scenes the end. Just amazing. There is so much hard work and sacrifice at the club, away from the club. It takes over your life at times.
“As much as you try to leave it at the door when you come back from training or games, it is difficult. I’m so happy we’ve managed to do it now. It means we can enjoy Friday – bring our family along, bring our friends along.
“These moments go really quick. I’m going to savour this as much as I can.”
