Josh Fowler spoke of the raw emotion of finding the back of the net on Saturday as the Saints picked up an important three points at Arbroath.

Fowler came off the bench and netted the third goal in our 4-2 victory at Gayfield.

He said: “I think we battled really well. It was always going to be a scrap with the conditions and the wind, but our quality shone through in the end.

“Going 1-0 down, we showed a lot of character to end up winning the game. We were all delighted in the changing room.

“The gaffer just told me to come on, give loads of energy, run in behind, battle and scrap. And obviously, if the chance came, put it away.

“I’m really enjoying my football here and it was an important goal. I was buzzing to score, but more importantly to get the three points.”

On the terrific away support, Fowler added: “The fans have been amazing since I’ve come in. The boys say they have been like that all season. Home and away, they are always following us.

“I know how much it means to the fans. It means a lot to me too. When you score, it is just raw emotion when celebrating with them.

“You always want a good relationship with the fans and you always want them to back you. Even when I wasn’t scoring, they were right behind me. You need to enjoy these moments. This is what you play football for.”

He concluded: “Now it is full focus on Airdrie.”
