Kai Fotheringham was pleased with the desire on display as the Saints found a late winner against Queen’s Park on Saturday.
We battled until the very end to secure three points thanks to Josh McPake’s 89th minute finish from a tight angle.
Kai had opened the scoring before Josh Fowler levelled for the hosts just shy of the break.
Speaking to Saints TV, Kai said: “First half we were nowhere near where we have been recently. Three games in a week can be tough but you just need to get used to that.
“We managed to go in front but needed to shut up shop before half-time. It was good finish from their striker, to be fair.
“In the second half we were waiting for that chance to come. Josh did what he has been doing and took his goal very well. He is playing with real confidence and you could see what his goal meant to all the boys.
“To get the three points when we were playing at that level is really important and hopefully we can take added confidence from it.”
On his opener, Kai said: “I managed to get on the break a few times in the first half. I always believed a chance would fall for me and, when it did, you need to be confident in your ability to hit the target.”
Kai added: “We know how difficult the league is. We have started really well but we need to keep that going.”
