Match Preview | Cup Final

Today is the day. There is not much more that can be said or done. Callum Davidson and his men find themselves on the cusp of St Johnstone greatness.

Today the team will leave from McDiarmid Park as men and have the chance to return to the City as immortals, as we travel through to the National Stadium of Hampden to take on Livingston in the Betfred League Cup Final.

Our League Cup Journey started with a freezing cold night away to Kelty Hearts and is ending at the National Stadium. It really is the stuff of dreams.

During this League Cup run, we welcomed Brechin City, faced Tayside rivals Dundee United, clocked the miles up on an away-day to Peterhead, battled against fellow Premier League side Motherwell, took a nostalgic trip to Dunfermline in the quarter-finals and dismantled Hibernian in the semi-final. The journey has been a challenging but thrilling one so far.

And now we find ourselves up against a Livingston side who are a tough nut to crack. Although we beat Livingston not too long ago, no one is underestimating the challenge that lays ahead.

Whatever the outcome, this is a historic day for Saints. Our second final in 7 years. Not many teams can say that. Some loyal fans had to wait a very long time just to see one, we are extremely proud of the boys for this fantastic achievement.

To the fans, although we will miss you dearly inside the stadium, please know the support which you have shown, especially in the lead up to this Final, has been nothing short of incredible. It has given everyone in McDiarmid Park a huge boost.

From Virtual ticket & 50:50 draw sales to decorating your house to some even creating Cup Final songs, you have done your absolute best to turn a bad situation into a great one. From where ever you are watching today, we hope you sit back and enjoy it.

C'mon you, Saints!
